DELILAH

I was a small-town girl. Aside from the ridiculous green beret and homely green jumper, signing me up for Girl Scouts was the best decision Mom made for her fifth-grade daughter. I already knew how to build a campfire, and selling cookies wasn't the highlight of my year -- it was the field trip to the radio station that thrilled my little eleven-year-old heart.

There it was, five thousand watts of crystal-clear power...it was a daytime-only radio station, the voice of our town. One look into that studio and I was hooked. I begged them to let me take home the unused news copy from the AP wire. I hung it up on my wall like a rock-star poster. I got a tape recorder and practiced doing newscasts, writing exciting stories of neighborhood gossip. I practiced my commercials, imitating TV ads for Miss Clairol.

In the seventh grade, I entered a speech contest and won three of the four categories. The judges were the owners of that radio station. Within a week of winning the speech contest I had my first on-air job: "Delilah, on the Warpath," school news and sports, taped weekly.

By the time I was in high school I had worked into a full-time part-time position at the radio station. I wrote afternoon newscasts, wrote and produced commercials. I took the empty soda pop bottles back for the refund. Six days a week I was at the station. Six days a week I was happy! It's been over 25 years, and fourteen stations since Mrs. Davis's Girl Scout troop walked through the doors of that first radio station. Today, my show isn't on a five-thousand watt daytime AM station, but the thrill of the microphone hasn't disappeared. Radio is still my first love.

MIKE BILLS

Mike Bills was born and raised in the Charleston area and discovered radio 12 years ago and has been hooked ever since. “What can I say, it’s an incurable virus that attacks only a select few of us” he says. After having worked at other stations like 98 ROCK, Q 104.5, and Star 105, he settled into the now recently defunct Coast 92.5 back in January 2003 and hosted “The All Request Saturday Night Party Mix” on Saturday nights and began to share his passion for 80s music with the Lowcountry for 2 years. He came to Sunny 96.9 back in February 2005 playing soft rock, but when we brought our Totally 80s Weekends back in the summer of ’05, it was only fitting that we let Mike take over the controls on Saturday nights to recreate some of the magic he had over at Coast 92.5. He now hosts The All Request Totally 80s Time Warp from 10am – 3pm every Saturday morning , the only live and local request show in Charleston helping you relive the decade of decadence with your favorite 80s songs, 80s pop culture and other cool stuff. It’s an exclusive part of our Totally 80s Weekend only on Sunny 96.9.

Mike lives over in Summerville with his two cats, and enjoys the close proximity to the beach. In his spare time, he works another job as a Network Administrator for a local bank, enjoys gardening, the outdoors, movies, cooking, walking and is always willing to try something new.

LIZ TERRY

Liz Terry has been with Sunny 96.9 for 13 years. She got into radio as a means of getting her career in voice overs started. She wanted to do television commercials, but knew that going through the doors of a local television station would not lead her into making television commercials, but rather, would lead her into the world of journalism. So she thought, "Hey, radio stations make commercials, I'll start there," and she's been with Sunny ever since. With the support of her Sunny family and the advancements in technology, Liz has been able to stay right here in Charleston with her family while achieving and enjoying her voice over career.

Liz graduated from Columbia College in South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theatre. After graduating, she toured the southeast with a children's theatre group called The Patchwork Players, performed in numerous dinner theatres, and toured with the Southeastern Theatrical Players before coming to Sunny 96.9.

In her spare time, Liz enjoys spending time with close friends and family. She also enjoys heading out to the stables and riding horses. Liz has two cats and absolutely loves Saint Bernards. The man in her life right now is Prince, her horse.
